‘Supporting local talent to access sports continues to be a cause which is close to Stanair’s heart. Our support of the Kettering Youth Bowling Club (YBC) helps enable more than twenty children in the Northampton area to meet, access and play ten-pin bowling with a variety of their peers as well as encouraging such vital skills as responsibility, co-operation and teamwork.
Now over thirty years old, the Kettering Youth Bowling Club first began all the way back in 1992 as a way to source, encourage and train young bowling talent. Run entirely by volunteers, it is a testament to the passion, dedication and enthusiasm of its adult players and supporters that it continues to this day and has more than twenty children who gather to play and develop their bowling skills. As the only club in existence within Northamptonshire, the club sees young players from across the country gather on a Wednesday evening to practice their skills and some have even started to play in the adult league.

Possessing six instructors, the club encourages and supports its players to attend a series of tournaments including the Nationals, South and North of England, the Northern Challenge and Trios. This involves the players travelling to competitions in areas such as Dunstable, Nottingham, Mansfield and Lincoln. In addition, the club runs its own President’s Cup which rewards the best in the youth team. With all this hard work, it is no surprise to learn that the club can and does produce winners – in fact from the latest South of England tournament in Dunstable, they produced five winners in both the singles and doubles categories (pictured).

It's not all work and no play though. Although the club’s two division league season runs from January to July and then from September to December, there is still plenty of opportunity for the young people to enjoy nights bowling simply for the fun of it together.

Stanair’s Managing Director William Smith said, ‘We are delighted to continue to support the Kettering YBC in their efforts to bring the joy of bowling to more and more young people across the Northamptonshire county. We are very proud of our involvement with the club and offer our congratulations to the club and players on the victories they have enjoyed so far. With our support, we hope that the club will continue to grow and that they will continue to offer an environment in which young people can excel, grow and succeed within the sport.’

The Kettering Youth Bowling Club are always on the lookout for more players and talent to join their team. Whether you want to explore a new sport, meet new people or develop your skills, this is the place to be.
