Stanair has confirmed it will continue sponsoring Kettering Youth Bowling Club this year, supporting the volunteer-run group as it looks to welcome new families and young players.
The club has been introducing children and young people to ten-pin bowling since 1992, offering regular sessions in a structured, supportive environment. For parents, bowling provides a valuable mix of physical activity, concentration and social development, without the pressure often associated with more traditional team sports.
Ten-pin bowling helps young people build coordination, focus and resilience, while also learning patience, turn-taking and how to support others. Played in over 90 countries worldwide, it is a sport where progress comes through consistency and encouragement, making it accessible to children of different ages and abilities.
Alongside weekly coaching and practice, the club offers opportunities to take part in regional youth competitions for those who wish to progress, while remaining just as welcoming to children who simply want to enjoy a positive, confidence-building activity.
President Gordon Lewis, who helps run the club, said the benefits extend far beyond the bowling lanes.
“What makes this group so special is how much young people grow once they join,” Gordon said. “We see children become more confident, more focused and much more comfortable socialising with others. Bowling teaches patience and perseverance, but it also creates real friendships. New members are welcomed straight away, and parents are often surprised by how quickly their children settle in and start enjoying themselves. We would genuinely love to see more families come along and be part of it.”
Stanair’s sponsorship helps ensure the club can continue running regular sessions and remain accessible to the local community.
William Smith, Managing Director at Stanair, said supporting the club reflects the company’s wider commitment to community initiatives.
“Kettering Youth Bowling Club offers young people a safe, inclusive space to develop important life skills while staying active and engaged,” he said. “We are proud to continue our support and would encourage parents looking for a positive, structured activity for their child to find out more.”
