Cricket season is in full swing and the exciting return of the Twenty 20 Vitality Blast began for the Northampton Steelbacks last week.
The Steelbacks, whose home is the County Ground, are supported by not only the club’s fans, but the club’s mascot, Steeler the Dog. In attendance at every T20 home game, the fan favourite can be seen boosting the excitement amongst match-goers both young and old. Younger fans can also enjoy spending time with the club’s furry friend in the Steeler Kid’s Zone, which has plenty of fun-filled activities such as face painting, bouncy castles and more! The mascot is a welcome addition to each home game and has been proudly supported by Stanair since 2013.
The first game of the tournament, however, was not at home for the Steelbacks. The team faced the Durham Jets away at Emirates Riverside last week. Not quite the result that was wanted, the Steelbacks made a strong start to their T20 journey, with the Jets only winning the game by a mere 7 runs. A determined start makes for some great games ahead, with the Steelbacks taking on the Notts Outlaws away this week, followed by two games at home.
“The first game of the tournament is always an exciting one,” said Martin Wall, Director at Stanair, “unfortunately the result didn’t go our way this time but we’re looking forward to watching the Steelbacks’ progress as the T20 gets underway.”
We’d like to wish the Steelbacks all the best for the tournament ahead, and we look forward to seeing Steeler help pump up the atmosphere just like he did here!
