We're delighted to be the shirt sponsor this season for Rugby Town's Youth Under 18 team, and were pleased to receive a match report from their first game, against Rugby Borough, this year:
"Rugby Town's ever improving squad took the short trip down the road to Kilsby Lane for the first game of 2019. The game started scrappily as most derbies do, all blood and thunder.
Town's back four and keeper were put under pressure early having to deal with the continual long diagonal ball with the wind in their faces, but performed brilliantly to keep the chances to a minimum. Once Town had a foot hold in the game they were able to influence proceedings by getting the ball down, creating chances for themselves only to find the Borough keeper in great form.
With the game poised at nil - nil, a heavy tackle in midfield went unpunished enabling Borough to break into the box after a scramble for possession of the ball dropped kindly for the forward to power home.
Town, feeling aggrieved, started the 2nd half well on top putting pressure on the home team.
Within 15 minutes of the restart, Town got the reward for their pressure, with a blatant penalty given after a Borough defender hauled the Town attacker down in the box, which was dispatched coolly by the skipper Bradley Littlehales.
Town sensed they could take advantage whilst in the ascendancy and did so after some bullish play out wide creating an opportunity to deliver a great cross a neat touch and finish from Samson Omotayo, which gave Town the lead.
With 20 minutes to play Borough upped their game, testing the tiring Town defence and it was the turn of the Town keeper Ryan Dunn to show his qualities, achieving 2 fine saves one from distance and then clawing one off the line from a header. Unfortunately Town were unable to hang on to the lead. A speculative strike which managed to hit the bar twice (members bounce) dropped to the onrushing forward to smash into the net.
With tired legs on both sides a 2-2 draw was probably a fair result.
Thank you to our sponsor Stanair for your continued support."
