A season to remember for AFC Rushden & Diamonds U16 Whites
Stanair supported AFC Rushden & Diamonds U16s Whites (AFCRD) have lots to celebrate as they finish this football season on the ultimate high as champions.

The team have been competing in Division 1 of the Weetabix Under 16s Youth Football League this season. Playing against teams from across the county, the team were spending their fourth season in Division 1, following an impressive rise to the top.

This season was one of great success, winning 15 of the 22 matches played and scoring an impressive 87 goals in all competitions. The team featured some outstanding work from all of their players, with the League Top Goal Scorer being Kyle Holmes, who scored 32 goals from his 19 appearances.

All of this season’s efforts, however, came to a head in the Cup Final against Vicarage Farm. The two teams and their supporters met at Corby Town Football Club for a game that was nail biting to the end. After an intense two halves, the game was taken to penalties. The AFCRD team put in an incredible effort, winning on penalties and taking the League cup home, much to the player’s delight. The win was also extra special, as it was the last game for the team’s dedicated coach, Daniel Richards, ahead of his retirement.

The excitement, however, doesn’t stop there. Following a fantastic season, the team has 5 players who will be doing a scholarship with Peterborough United over the next 2 years. In addition, Team Captain Jake Andrews is already establishing himself in National League Futsal with Kettering Futsal Club at the ripe old age of 16.

“We’ve been proud to support the team since 2015 and have been very impressed with their journey climbing the leagues,” said Martin Wall, Director at Stanair, “to win the final this season is the icing on the cake and we’re absolutely delighted for Daniel and the team.”

Stanair would like to congratulate all of the players and the whole AFC Rushden & Diamonds U16s Whites team on their success!
