Bonkers Theatrical, a local, multi award winning production company, are celebrating a very special milestone this week. The Kettering based company, who perform in the Bonkers Playhouse, are marking their 10thanniversary and revisiting their first ever production – Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’.
Stanair, a long-time supporter of Bonkers, are sponsoring the production and were invited to a very special performance. Members of Stanair staff and their customers were invited to a private performance ahead of the week long run of shows, getting a sneak preview before the general public. The audience were treated to a show filled with a talented cast and crew, all directed by Mark Walker.
The Bonkers Playhouse was certainly a pleasant surprise for guests. The playhouse seats 40, meaning each performance is intimate and the playhouse itself is often a hidden gem to most. The company’s reputation, however, is larger than life and has led to each performance of Blood Brothers being a sell-out. Saturday 13th July will mark 10 years exactly to the date of Bonkers Theatrical’s first ever opening night. Over the past decade the company have racked up some impressive figures, putting on 26 productions with 82 different performers. Better yet, they’ve received 22 NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) nominations and won 12 of those awards! To round off such an incredible 10 years, they decided to mark the special milestone by putting on the play that first kicked everything off, which even featured some of the original cast members from the first production a decade before.
“We’ve been really proud to support Bonkers over many years,” said Martin Wall, “it was an absolute privilege to be treated to an exclusive performance ahead of the general public, which was, as always, brilliant.”
The whole audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance, much to the cast and Director, Mark Walker’s delight:
“We want to say a massive thanks to Stanair for their ongoing support of Bonkers Theatrical, without the support of local businesses like them we would struggle to keep making our productions,” said Mark, “they’ve helped us to keep on bringing theatre to Kettering and enhancing the local community, and for that, we’re truly grateful.”
We’d like to send the whole cast and crew a huge congratulations on a decade in show-business, and all the best this week in their sell-out show!
