Abbz race report - Brands Hatch
We've been delighted to support Annabel 'Abbz' Thomas this season in her racing career. We were very excited to receive an end of season report following her last race at Brands Hatch.

14-year old Abbz Thomas showed her class during the finale of the HEL Performance Motostar Championship at Kent’s Brands Hatch GP circuit last weekend, 12th to 14th October.
In her debut year in the Motostar series, Abbz has put points on the board in five rounds and shown pace and tenacity despite accidents and injuries. In 2017, she competed in the Santander KTM British Junior Cup, notching up 10 top-ten finishes and claiming 11th place and the Rookie of the Year award. Prior to that, she showed her talent by winning two British Minibike Winter Championships and various Cool Fab honours.
At Brands, Abbz took the feisty weather left by Storm Callum in her stride. She placed P13 and P15 in her free practice sessions then qualified P17 with a time of 1m40.907s. She made impressive progress in Race 1 to finish P13 with a best lap of 1m40.065s.  Unfortunately, the heavens opened for Race 2 and, like several other riders, Abbz crashed out.
“Friday practice was good,” said Abbz’s father Steffan, “but it was difficult putting a lap together when the wind was pushing her half-way off the track.
“Race 1 was exciting for Abbz. It’s fair to say she rode the wheels off the bike. She went from P19 to P13 and so much more was possible. I have to put my hands up for putting on the wrong front sprocket. It ruined the potential finish but fair play to the girl, she maxed it out and had a great battle with Ross McGuire that she really enjoyed.
“Race 2 was wet which shook everything up again. Abbz made a good start and made off through the pack in the soaking wet. She was making great progress, catching the guys in front of her. But like so many others, she went down at Graham Hill, ending her season in the medical centre.
“Fortunately, she just had a bang on the head and she’s fine now, just disappointed. Now the build-up for next year’s racing starts.
“Thanks to everyone who supports and helps our young lady rider, including Four Anjels, Stanair, Memset Web Hosting, Cool Milk and Ixon Leathers.”
