Salvation Army PVC Strip Curtain Installation

Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL) is the trading arm of the church and charity and encourages reuse and recycling through over 220 charity shops and donation centres, and its extensive network of clothing banks across the UK. Funds are raised from the resale of second-hand clothes and other donated items. With the help of the British public and corporate partners, SATCoL has donated £76 million pounds to The Salvation Army over the past 10 years alone, to support its vital work.

Stanair has worked with their friends at Salvation Army Trading Company for many years; servicing and maintaining Industrial Doors at their various warehouse units.

In January 2021, SATCoL commenced operations in its new purpose-built sorting and processing warehouse. The new warehouse was many years in the planning and incorporates leading-edge technology. SATCoL’s Business Relocation Project Manager, Jay Fleming, contacted Stanair to ask for help:

“We had a requirement where we would be installing a lorry tipper – the first of its kind in the UK.” Jay said. “The building design includes a large entrance to receive the lorry trailers, and we needed something to stop the wind, rain and any pests from entering that part of the new warehouse.”

The Stanair team suggested fitting large PVC Strip Curtains into the 9 metre opening – the largest set the business have ever fitted.

“Stanair came up with the perfect solution to our problem.” Jay said. “The success of the entire warehouse relies on attention to detail and specialist expertise, and Stanair’s engineers were able to plan, design and implement bespoke curtains to protect our machinery.  We have worked with them for many years as we like to use local companies and they always deliver an excellent service.”

“The Salvation Army do an amazing job in our community and we are always delighted and proud to support that work.” said David Wood, Managing Director of Stanair. “Their clothing banks, charity shops and donation centres offer people the opportunity to donate their unwanted goods including clothing, accessories, and more in a convenient way. We are delighted that we have been able to work with Jay and his team to ensure those donations enter their new warehouse in an efficient, safe and secure way.”
