We are all naturally delighted with our win and are especially proud to have won it for the second year running. I always believed that we had achieved a lot over the last year, but given the strength of the competition in the training & Development category this year, I was never confident that we would win the award.

Having looked at the awards results, they show that your organisation is no stranger to continuous high performance. Congratulations on your Highly Commended award for Customer Service. Receiving this recognition two years in a row is a great achievement, but it would not surprise me at all if your organisation was not mentioned in despatches on previous occasions.

More than your two commendations, the point that drove home the most to me was when we spoke briefly at the Awards dinner. You told me that you were finalists in five categories this year. This immediately evokes the perception of Stanair being a quality organisation. I would count myself very lucky to be able to submit five entries at anyone time.

I would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate you personally on your commendation as Business Person of the Year. I live near Kettering and get the local papers. I read one article last week with interest. It gave an account of your background and what you were doing for the community.

On behalf of the Watamu Ambulance Group, and residents of Watamu, Gede, and Timboni, I would like to thank you very much for the generous cash donation your company made to this very worthy cause.

Your donation went a long way to enable us to purchase a replacement ambulance for the residents in this area.

Since its inception some 5 years ago, the first ambulance attended to over 350 calls and managed to save at least 12 lives in the area. Unfortunately this vehicle was becoming somewhat of a liability and had to be taken off the road, its age and the fact that it was a Renault van made spares difficult to obtain and very expensive. The replacement ambulance although not new, is a Nissan diesel with very low mileage; it has been converted to accept most of the equipment including sliding stretcher from the old ambulance. Patrick the driver is very proud as are we, the vehicle has already attended to a number of calls, and it will hopefully give us many miles of trouble free motoring.

I have included a photograph of the ambulance together with the latest issue of the Watamu newsletter. The Editor gives his apologies for omitting who was in the photograph for the ambulance article, and what they were doing, and he promises to include it with another article in the next issue this time mentioning that it was Sheena Markham financial controller of Stanair Ltd. handing over donation to Steve Curtis of the Watamu Ambulance Group.
