Stanair supported Lewis Huckerby races through 2017
Here at Stanair, we enjoy investing in and supporting our local communities. What we enjoy even more, however, is seeing those we support grow and excel in their fields over the years.
Stanair, and sister company Shire Security, first started supporting Motorcross cyclist Lewis Huckerby back in 2007. Motorcycling was something that was already in the family, with Lewis’ Dad, Mark, a former Motorcross racer. Following in Mark’s tracks, Lewis first got on a bike at the age of 5 and the rest is history. Lewis’ talent and skill has grown over the years, growing from riding through to competing in races.
This year has been one of particular success for Lewis, 17, who competed for the first time in the Kensworth Schoolboy Motorcross Club. Lewis certainly made an impact and won the Kensworth 250 Four Stroke Championship! To add to the great news, he was also crowned Rider of the Year at the club. After such a prosperous year, Lewis shows no sign of slowing down and is starting to compete in adult races.
“It’s always great to see those we support doing so well in their chosen field,” said Martin Wall, Director at Stanair, “what’s even more special with Lewis, however, is watching him grow and progress so much over the many years we’ve supported him. We wish him all the best for 2018.”
Lewis ended 2017 competing in the world’s oldest race on Boxing Day – the Wild and Wooly Race in Blisworth, in which he finished 16th out of 47 riders! Lewis also hopes to take part in more adult races next year, along with potentially going national. Lewis is also undertaking an apprenticeship to be a bricklayer when not racing up and down the country on his bike.
“We’ve really valued Stanair and Shire’s support of Lewis for all of these years,” says Lewis’ Dad, Mark, “it’s been a joy to see Lewis work his way up from a 65 to an adult bike and to have the support of Stanair and Shire all that time has been fantastic. Thank you to both of the companies for their continued support in his journey!”
A huge congratulations to Lewis on his outstanding year, and we look forward to seeing more of your successes in 2018!
