The half time penalty cup competition at Sixfields has a new sponsor, and will be known as the Stanair Cup for the 2011/12 season.
Stanair Industrial Door Services Ltd are one of the UK's first specialist industrial door repair companies and are now in their fourth decade. Stanair is the name you can trust with a service built totally around you, and now they are delighted to add their name to the club's growing half time competition that gives hundreds of youngsters the chance to show their skills in front of thousands of supporters at Sixfields.
Martin Wall of Stanair, said "As soon as we heard about the chance to sponsor this competition we wanted to get involved. I truly hope and expect that the Stanair Cup will build on the success of last season's competition and will provide excitement for local youngsters and give them the chance that they would never have had otherwise, a chance to score a penalty in front of the crowd at Sixfields.
"Those lucky enough to win the competition will get a coaching session from Gary Johnson, and the chance to work with the Cobblers manager is one that very few people ever get to experience."
"I am delighted to welcome Stanair on board at the club," said Chairman David Cardoza.
"This competition gives local youngsters the chance to take a penalty on a Football League pitch and to experience the sort of atmosphere that only a professional player would usually get to taste. They can also win a coaching session from Gary Johnson, a prize that money simply cannot buy.
"I am particularly pleased that Stanair have come on board to support this competition. Just like the club, they are a huge part of the Northamptonshire community and they are helping us make dreams come true for some local youngsters."
After a hugely successful first season, the Cobblers are looking for any group of under 9s and 10s in the 2011/12 season to take part in the Stanair Cup, the half time penalty shoot out competition that will be held during the half time interval at Northampton Town matches at Sixfields this season.
The Stanair Cup is open to clubs, schools, scouts - in fact any group of children who are of the correct age group.
Each team who enter will be drawn against an opponent with the ties taking place during the half time interval at first team games.
7 penalty takers and a goalkeeper are required per team and the team that scores the most penalties will go through to the next round.
On the day they attend, the penalty takers will have their names listed in the match programme and read out over the PA system.
The winners of the overall competition will get a coaching session from Cobblers manager Gary Johnson and will lift the Stanair Cup.
