Famous Peterborough company Perkins Engines has increased the efficiency of its operations, while keeping its facilities warmer for staff.
The company has had seven more rapid action doors fitted by engineers from Stanair’s depot in Peterborough. Over several years it has had dozens of the doors fitted by Stanair.
The doors are operated using an induction loop. That means that the doors open themselves at a rate of one metre per second, when they sense a forklift approaching, and close again afterwards.
A series of safety sensors ensure that the door will not close if something or someone is blocking the entrance.
Used in circumstances such as this, a rapid action door maintains the majority of the warmth within a building, while making day-to-day operations more efficient.
Stanair’s engineers have calculated that the seven new rapid doors will pay for themselves within three years.
