Stanair recommends security measures after spate of break-ins

Stanair Industrial Door services is warning local businesses to ensure their premises are properly secured after a spate of break-ins around Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire.

Staff at the company’s depots in Milton Keynes and Kettering have noticed a recent trend of multiple break-ins on single nights

Wayne Thompson is the manager of Stanair’s depot in Milton Keynes. He said: “We are told there are gangs targeting multiple buildings in a single night.

“We believe they are after cash and valuables and move quickly between locations.

“One of the simplest ways to secure your premises is to remember that if burglars can’t see there is something to steal, they are less inclined to break-in.

“Burglars want to get in and out quickly. They need to know that there’s something inside for them to steal. This is why security window shutters work so well.

“Not only do they make it difficult for burglars to gain access to the window, they stop them peering inside the building and seeing what there is to steal.”

He added: “If they can’t see it, they are less likely to steal it.”

Wayne has noticed another recent trend for burglars damaging key switches, placed outside buildings to allow staff to operate the security shutters.

He said: “If a burglar can get to the key switch they will attempt to damage it to open the shutter. So you need to ensure that the key switch is secured inside a lockable box.”
