Newspapers publish Stanair's security guidelines

Two newspapers have published a series of security guidelines supplied by Stanair Industrial Door Services.

The Northants Evening Telegraph and Peterborough Evening Telegraph both published the guidelines to help local businesses protect themselves from thieves and burglars during the summer.

The tips were put together by Stanair’s security experts, in conjunction with sister business, alarm and CCTV company Shire Security.

Kettering depot manager Mike Etherington was quoted in the Northants ET as saying: “A nice hot summer sounds lovely but can put businesses at risk from thieves.

“Staff tend to open all the doors and windows at business premises which helps to get cool air in, but also gives burglars and thieves opportunities.”

Here are the full tips supplied to the newspapers by Stanair:

  • Protect open doors and windows with folding or retractable security window grilles
  • Identify possible hiding spots for burglars and install security lighting with automatic movement detectors
  • Make it difficult for burglars to get onto the roof by keeping items they could climb  up, such as wheelie bins, away from the building
  • Maintain a secure and solid perimeter fence
  • Ensure all entrances are well lit
  • Install a monitored alarm system and consider monitored CCTV
  • Encourage your staff to make a note of suspicious people near your business
