Stanair saves neighbours after ram-raiders destroy wall

Stanair Industrial Door Services came to the rescue of its Milton Keynes depot’s neighbour, John Dron Limited this week after their building was ram raided.
It was a bit of challenge for Stanair, an industrial door company, because the ram-raiders had actually entirely ignored the company’s door.
Instead, the thieves opted to smash through the wall of the building itself.
Having spent much of the morning trying to secure an emergency repair from a cladding company to no avail, John Dron Limited turned to Stanair to see if they could help.
Wayne Thompson is the manager of the Milton Keynes depot.
He said: “We went round to take a look at the damage, which was extensive.
“It’s not something we deal with really, but since the lads were now facing the possibility of having to sleep in the depot that night, we decided to see what we could do.
“As you’d expect, there was a van-sized hole in the side of their building, and we had to come up with a way to make it secure again.
“The wall had failed at the bottom and bent inwards and upwards, effectively creating a ‘reverse’ garage door.”
With no access to any of the proper materials for fixing the wall, the Stanair team had to ‘make do and mend’ using what they had around the workshop.
Wayne added: “We went into our fabrication and repair area to see what we had that could be used to securely plug the hole.
“Because of the number of repairs we make to doors, we often have damaged door sections waiting to be collected for recycling.
“They’re no use for doors, of course, but we were just after solid materials so we collected up as much as we could.
“We bent the wall back into place and used the damaged door sections to reinforce it.
“Of course, the sections were the perfect size for the width of the hole, so we used as many fasteners as we could get our hands on to attach the sections to the undamaged parts of the wall and managed to secure the building.
Stephen Savory is the manager of John Dron Limited, who suffered the break in.
He commented: “We were thrilled with the job that the Stanair team managed to do, using nothing other than initiative and what they had lying around in their workshop.
“We were so pleased not have to spend a night in the depot!
“The warehouse is now more secure than it was before, thanks to Stanair.”
