All warehouse managers know that the docking bay is one of the most important parts of an efficient logistics operation.
Problems are most often caused when an existing bay is expected to accommodate a new vehicle of a different size. Or worse, a number of vehicles with different sizes.
Without good planning and appropriate changes, trying to load and unload vehicles that don’t “fit” into a dock that can cause a chain of problems and delays that are not easily solved.

Over the last few years Stanair has changed the height of docking bays for a number of clients across the Midlands, allowing them to accept larger European lorries.
Some clients chose to have a dock leveller installed. This is the one of the most flexible solutions, as it typically allows a bay to accommodate a very wide range of vehicles of differing sizes.
But it’s not the only solution. You can also opt for a permanent change to the height of the docking bay.
There are a number of other modifications which can improve the efficiency of any docking bay, including full dock loading systems.
Other accessories include smart traffic light systems with movement detectors to make vehicle movements and loading easier and safer.
And to protect the inside of the warehouse from the elements outside, look at weather seals, rapid action roller shutter and sectional doors.
