Don’t forget industrial doors and shutters in risk assessments

Stanair is reminding local businesses not to forget to include industrial doors and security shutters in compulsory workplace risk assessments.

Every business must carry out a risk assessment of its workplace to check that all necessary precautions are in place. This must be written if you employ five or more people.

Of course you’re not expected to totally eliminate risk; but must prove you have protected people as much as possible.

A risk assessment looks at what could happen to people in the workplace and what steps have been taken to protect them.

Often industrial doors and shutters are heavy or automated, and theoretically pose a risk to people.

Doors installed by Stanair comply with all relevant safety standards, and maintenance is always carried out to ‘best practice’ requirements. Stanair is a member of several groups, including the Door and Hardware Federation and SAFEcontractor.
