Engineers from Stanair’s Kettering depot have created a bespoke but low cost solution for a client with an unusual problem.
Abbey Board in Northamptonshire has two rapid action doors that have sustained repeated damage by high winds.
The doors were supplied by another company many years ago!
In moderate to high wind conditions the door curtains were blowing out of the door tracks causing expensive damage.
The problem occurred frequently during the recent extreme weather.
Stanair's engineers examined what was happening and why, then built and installed a bespoke solution.
They repaired the doors with re-engineered wind bars.
And the doors were fitted with wind sensors wired into the original door controllers.
If wind gusts reach a certain level, the door curtain automatically rolls up and remains in the open position until wind levels fall to an acceptable level.
A manual override controlled by a keyswitch allows supervised operation of the doors at any time.
Kettering depot manager Mike Etherington said: “Stanair is all about customer service guarantees, and we promised the client we would find a way to fix this unusual problem.
“It’s always a challenge to create a bespoke solution, but very satisfying to know you have fixed a problem and the client is delighted.”
