Peterborough United’s manager Darren Ferguson has been declared the winner of a major sports award sponsored by Stanair.
The Peterborough depot supported the Coach/Trainer of the Year category at the Peterborough Evening Telegraph’s Sports Awards, at the end of last week.
Other finalists included Jesse Hammill from the Peterborough Islanders ice hockey team; and Nobby Coupland of Deepings Rugby Club.
But despite a vote that was apparently very close right up to the voting deadline, Darren was ultimately picked as the winner by the readers of the Evening Telegraph.
He couldn’t be there on the night, as the Peterborough United team (known as the Posh) were travelling to Huddersfield for a game.
Instead the Peterborough depot’s Will Smith and Steve Harrison presented the trophy to Posh board director Bob Simmons.
They’re hoping to visit the team’s ground at London Road later this week to present the trophy properly to winner Darren.
