A door engineer with Stanair’s Kettering depot is celebrating 15 years with the company.
Ben Walsh joined straight from school in 1994 after seeing a card in the Job Centre. He initially became an apprentice for Gordon Lewis, who is now a manager at the Rugby depot.
Ben is now one of the Kettering depot’s most experienced door engineers.
Over the last decade and a half, he has picked up a clutch of qualifications including an electrical NVQ, door fitting NVQ, forklift licence, and a cherry picker licence.
And he’s got an ambitious eye on the future, eyeing up the technical manager’s role.
Outside work Ben has a 16 month old son, which he considers to be another full-time job!
So what would have happened if he hadn’t joined Stanair? Well, he got through to the final interview for a job with the fire service, before in his own words “chickening out” of the 5 minute presentation he had to give.
Here at Stanair we’re glad he joined us instead!
