| It was estate agent Paul Campbell's dream, and a challenge that event manager Sam Clarke just couldn't resist!
Between them, they put on one of Daventry's best nights out for years. And in doing so raised just under £7,000 for the Macmillan Cancer Relief charity.
"Paul had the idea of organising a great night out for the business community in Daventry and raising money for a charity he has a great depth of feeling for," said event organiser Sam, of Total Event Solutions. "But of course, having the idea is one thing - getting it to happen is another story altogether.
"Between the two of us, though, we got there in the end - we had over 200 people at Staverton Park, and the amount of money we're now able to hand over to the Macmillan fund is fantastic. Congratulations to everyone who not only made it happen, but turned it into a memorable night out."
Indeed, the first Daventure Ball was such a great night, that it's now likely to become an annual fixture on the Daventry social calendar.
Said Paul: "It was a terrific effort by everyone, and I was just so overwhelmed that it didn't just happen, but that it was such a fantastic occasion. And raising £6,800 was just amazing, I'm almost lost for words.
"Yes, it was hard work initially, generating interest, and convincing people that we really were serious about putting this kind of event on for the people of Daventry. But I always had faith, and in the end the local people came good for me, and I cannot thank them enough.
"But the response since has been so uplifting - everybody's been extremely complimentary, and tell us they're already looking forward to doing it all again next year.
"But it wouldn't have happened without our sponsors - and I must say a massive 'thank-you' to Stanair, Someplace Else and Daventry District Council, who gave us fantastic support."
