Stanair helps newsagent protect premises in conservation area

T James & Son newsagent

Stanair has helped a newsagent protect his premises from burglars, while meeting the strict requirements of conservation area rules.

Mark James owns T James & Son newsagent in Thrapston, Northamptonshire, and was plagued by a series of break-ins.

To stop burglars gaining access, Mark had a set of large security shutters fitted by another door company. Unfortunately because Mark’s shop is in a conservation area, the shutters were actually too big and required planning permission.

Mark’s application for retrospective permission was turned down, and was declined again on appeal. He was ordered to change the shutters to fit in with the local area.

At this point Mark met Simon Barnicoat from Stanair’s Kettering depot at the "Business in the Community" networking group. It is run by Thrapston Town football club, meets nine times a year, and Mark is one of the organisers.

Simon took Mark through the options available to provide a very high level of security while significantly reducing the visual impact of the shutters.

And now they have been fitted – meeting the requirements of the conservation area rules – Mark is delighted.

He said: “I couldn't fault the service that Stanair provided. They informed me what could and couldn't be done in my situation. They arrived when they said they would, they finished when they said they would and my shutters do exactly what they said on the tin!”

Stanair fits and services a wide range of shop front security shutters.
