Working Towards a Brighter Future!
Jack Hobbs has been working with Shire Security for 5 years now, through The King John School in Thrapston. It’s been hard work expanding the school through the success.
The King John School is based in Thrapston. It is one of only 2 middle schools left in the county the others are in Oundle and Kingscliffe. A middle school offers education to 9-13 year olds, which is the last two years of a junior school and the first two years of senior school. A middle school enables children to develop their social skills with older children before moving into a secondary school.
The King John School has gone from strength to strength over the years expanding the property to accommodate for more and more children. The school is still very popular and demand for places is high. The population of students is managed by a team of 64 staff.
Like many schools The King John School runs many clubs, after-school activities, lunch time classes (known as booster classes), school productions and many school trips.
Parts of the school have been renovated and expanded which has increased student support, respect and motivation to learn. Jack Hobbs the schools Site Manager said:
‘It’s got to be better to have a class that is clean with everything in working order than one that is really dull and dingy…it does make the job of teaching and being taught better.’
Jack is also a governor at the school and plays a very active role throughout, helping with all aspects of the day-to-day running of the school, as well as helping with after-school activities and school related events.
Jack rides a performance motor bike and plays in a rock and roll band in his spare time; this gives him a lot of respect from the students at King John School. He has worked with the school for 5 years and enjoys the friendship he gets from the people he works with and his job satisfaction comes from seeing the pupils success.
With the growing security hazards relating to children in the UK, schools have had to become highly secure so students are safe and intruders can’t get in. Shire have installed Intruder Alarm, Access Control and Fire Alarm systems on The King John School site. When Jack started work at The King John School the Intruder Alarms and Access Control had already been installed. Jack used Shire to install the Fire alarm systems and upgrade the Intruder and Access Control Systems.
